Nevada’s call to action towards the prevention of Suicide has gained momentum in past years. With the rise in suicide statistics statewide and nationally that call to action for suicide prevention is even more critical and necessary. Recently, the state received grant provided funding for the implementation of Zero Suicide. Zero Suicide is a state and system-wide paradigm frame-work shift toward suicide prevention, with a complete organizational commitment to safer suicide care within our states health and behavioral health systems. Zero Suicide fills the gaps that patients at risk for suicide often fall through using evidence-based tools, systematic practices, training, and embedded workflows. Continuous process improvement drives this framework to ensure organizations deliver quality care, routinely examine outcomes, and remain committed to fidelity. As Nevada moves to reach zero suicides, this framework presents both an aspirational challenge for our state and a way forward.
